Hair Art
Jewelry to be Treasured

These buttons are made using the cutwork and the sepia painting technique.

The sepia pictures are made using only hair, no ink or paint was used.

The flowers have small pearl embellishments, otherwise they are all made from hair also.

The hairart is placed on a mother of pearl background.

Each button is hand made using hair from the person of your choice.

The buttons backs are engraveable

Using  techniques  from the 1700  and  1800's this  jewelry  is  fashioned  from  a  lock  of your  loved one's hair into the design of your choice.   The "hair art" is worked on a piece of mother-of-pearl and then placed into a solid sterling silver button with a glass dome.   These solid sterling buttons can also be ordered with a 24k gold vermeil.

"Hair Jewelry" was made as a sentimental way to remember a loved one during Victorian times.  This jewelry is made using the "cutwork" technique and results in a piece of "wearable art".

Very little hair is needed, a small lock is sufficient to make any of the styles shown.  The
"Prince of Wales" style needs slightly longer  (at least 2-1/2")  and  more hair to design,
and the "Basket Weave" also needs slightly more hair than some of the others.
