Sepia Technique

All the Pieces Below Were Created Using the Sepia Technique

The sepia technique uses hair that has been finely cut and then is used as paint to create a picture.  It can be layered for dimensional effects and sort of "sculpted" to create unique designs.

I like to use the different hair shades to create depth and dimension in the pieces.  The mother of pearl background is sometimes tinted to provide contrast.  Each piece is unique and made to the client's specifications.

If the hair is tinted in some cases it was provided to me that way.  It is how that feature started.  If the client prefers tinted hair I will do that as part of my process.

Most any design can be created using the sepia technique and it uses hair of any length. Even very short hair can be used as it is cut up very fine.
